All 6 Basketball Commits Sign

All six of the mens basketball commits signed and faxed in their LOI's today. This has turned in to a great recruiting class for the amount of time given to our new coach. Props to Travis Ford. I am looking forward to 2009...

The six players are:

Karron Johnson (#43 in Rivals Top150)
Roger Franklin (#90)
Raymond Penn (#54)
Fred Gulley
Reger Dowell (#135)
Torin Walker

Basketball Early Signing Day

Well, basketball season is about to start. With new head coach Travis Ford leading the way, the Pokes look to reestablish themselves as legitimate Big XII and national contenders. After a disappointing 2007 season (16-16) under Sean Sutton, things seem to be turning around under a more disciplined coach in Ford.

As for next year; however, Travis Ford has brought in an impressive 2009 recruiting class (ranked #9 by Rivals), getting commits from very talented players in Roger Franklin, Torin Walker, Karron Johnson and Raymond Penn. Ford has actually received signatures from all of the commits except for Karron Johnson and Torin Walker.

Pokes drop to #13 in BCS standings

The new BCS rankings were just announced on Fox...

1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma

12. Missouri
13. Oklahoma State

I was shocked to see Mizzou ahead of us, considering the records are the same, we beat them, and we actually came out to play against Texas.....
