It was a memorable game in Columbia tonight as the Pokes stunned the nation, upsetting #3 Missouri at Farout Field. This is the first time the Cowboys have beaten a top 3 opponent on the road in over 40 years and the Pokes are 6-0 for the first time since WWII (1945 season).
What was supposed to be a 'shootout of prolific offenses' turned out to be one of the most suspenseful games I've ever watched. This time, it was OSU's defense that impressed everyone the most. Missouri came into the game having not one three-and-out so far this season. However, the Pokes' defense was able to bring that streak to an end in the first quarter. After allowing only 1o points through half-time, it was clear the under-rated OSU defense had something to prove.
The second half was a nightmare for Mizzou's quarterback Chase Daniel. It seemed like every time the Tigers were picking up momentum, a ball was under-thrown or bobbled by a receiver and intercepted by a Poke defender. The Cowboys' defense recorded three interceptions in the game, all of which came in the second half. But it was Patrick Lavine's interception with 1:41 left in regulation that sealed the deal.
The Cowboy's offensive attack was very balanced and gave the Mizzou defense a lot of problems at times. However, it seemed like every time the Pokes drove the ball down field, it was ruined by a missed field-goal or a fumble. Thankfully, the defense was able to bail them out of these positions.
Kendall Hunter had another great game rushing for 154 total yards, 68 of which came off a crafty TD run early in the third quarter to give the pokes a 4 point lead. Zach Robinson also had a strong game throwing for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for 34 yards and another touchdown.
Dez Bryant, who was supposed to be the OSU play-maker, was quiet all night after being shaken up by two monster hits from Tiger defenders. It was surprising that he was even able to walk off the field after being hit so hard. Although Dez was basically taken out of the passing game, Damian Davis was able to separate himself from defenders, burning Missouri's defense for a pair of huge OSU touchdowns. Davis finished the night with 76 yards receiving and 2 TD's while Bryant only finished with 47 yards and no touchdowns.
As for the Tigers, the Cowboys could have spoiled their national championship hopes along with Chase Daniel's resume for the Heisman trophy. The Tigers will go on to face the Texas Longhorns, who look like they will be #1 when Mizzou arrives next week in Austin.

The 1945 stat which is being thrown around a lot is inaccurate. We were actually 6-0 in 1997 before losing on Oct 25th to Missouri (51-50 in double OT). That was also the last year we beat Texas.
We also had a fourth INT (that I guess doesn't go in the stats) on their 2 pt conversion attempt.
Am I just getting defensive, or did it seem like they played a little dirty and seemed to try and cheap shot Dez when possible?
Hm, well thanks for that.
The fourth interception isnt actually recorded as an interception because 2-point conversions only count as completions or incompletions. Therefore, Daniel was just given an incompletion rather than anther interception.
Dez got hit going up for a few balls really hard which were clean except for the one when he was basically out of bounds. But he was also hit from behind on plays which didn't even involve him. I consider those dirty cheap shots. There was a pass to DD where a missouri defender completely laid out Dez from behind. And we received no flag... but oh well, we won....
